Rambling

Well hello, beautiful. I feel like its been a while since I've posted (its only been four days :/), but it might just be because this week is going by so incredibly slow. Maybe its because I have been anticipating the weekend--a four day weekend, mind you--or maybe its because I'm not having so much fun this week. The weather has been horrible, I've been sneezing every five seconds, and, well, school is never fun. So I was looking through some old things to show you guys and to cheer me up and I found this little gem hiding in a folder on my computer. I can't remember where I found it, so I'm sorry to anyone who comes across this and its theirs!

I still crack up every time I read this. I believe it was written by an 8 year old?
Happy Thursday!

Nothing Says Happy Birthday Quite Like A...

...beautiful editorial! For Dolce & Gabbana's twentieth birthday, Dazed & Confused did a stunning editorial featuring their men's line. Here are a couple of photos that stood out the most:

I'm Back!

Just got back in yesterday afternoon from Seattle, Washington and let me tell you, I've never seen so much homeless people in my life. I mean some were really funny and others super creepy. Any who, it was all so nice I think I'll file it into my good memories. I am happy to be home and reunited with my partner in crime Kendall! (whom I brought back some classy earrings!) Alright folks I'll get around to scanning some pictures, but I've just been busy busy busy! BUT, I do want to ask you lovely readers: Who would you rather be?
OR

Have a nightmare-free night! I know I'll be dreaming in color LOVE JOYCE

PS22 Chorus

I've been a fan of PS22 chorus, and was reminded of their incredible talent today when I stumbled upon their video for Empire State of Mind. These kids are seriously some of the most talented kids I've seen in my life. I'm really jealous that I didn't have the opportunity to join a choir like that when I was that young D: My personal favorite cover of there's is the Call by Regina Spektor, but Don't Stop Believin by Journey is one of Joyce and I's FAAAAVVVS so I have to include that one here too.

Sid and Nancy

Yesterday most of you saw the post Joyce made that had the super adorable Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt dancing to She & Him's Why Do You Let Me Stay Here. Well today, I'm coming at you with the same on-screen couple, but in a more humorous light. The guys over at Mean Digital did a nice little "cinemash" of (500) Days of Summer and Sid and Nancy. I think you're all familiar with the scene in Summer, when Summer Finn (Zooey Deschanel) breaks the news to Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) that she wants to see other people and Tom and Summer make the infamously cute exchange comparing themselves to Sid and Nancy. Well, here's a very literal view at Summer and Tom's relationship:

Dance, Dance

Two important facts you should know about us at OctopussyGold. One: We love to dance. We are the definition of dancing machines. And two, we'll dance just about anywhere: in the car, at stores, in class, I mean anywhere. The dance move of the moment: fist pumping. It looks fucking awesome and it works your arm at the same time. So with that I leave you with some dance numbers I just absolutely adore and a few songs that make us want to dance like John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever.

Utah Saints - Something Good 08 (VanShe 08 Mix) from Prim on Vimeo.

She & Him - Why Do You Let Me Stay Here? (music video) from ale cartier on Vimeo.

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance from ForeverGaga on Vimeo.

Ke$ha Tik Tok from lhslucky on Vimeo.

Stay tuned for our future dance moves of the moment, I promise there will be more to come.

CONTRA

Photo: Amazon

A couple of days ago, Vampire Weekend's sophomore album, Contra, was released. For most bands, a good album after a critically acclaimed first album is hard to achieve. It seems as though Vampire Weekend was able to break through that stereotypical shell with an album that is different than their first, but that still has the same quirks everyone loved about their debut album, Vampire Weekend. The opening track, Horchata, in my opinion, isn't the strongest opening track. I think if they opened it with the second song on the album, Holiday, it would have had a better opening. After a few listens, I started to really love Contra. The sound is a lot lighter than Vampire Weekend. Vampire Weekend had a lot of heavier guitar riffs and drum lines than Contra has which gives Contra a more playful, and ethnic feel. There is a phenomenal piano line that comes in around the chorus of my favorite song on the album, I Think Ur a Contra. Over all, I give this album a 100/10.

Welcom Back, Polaroid

Late last year, my heart fluttered when I saw the headline, "POLAROID CAMERAS TO BE PRODUCED ONCE AGAIN." Seriously, no other 7 words could please me more. Well, maybe 'you just won one million dollars, Kendall!' or 'that 1983 Mercedes convertible is yours, Kendall!', but that's not the point. Polaroids have always been a staple to our (Joyce and My's) photo collections. For the past year, we've been scrounging for money to buy Polaroid film which reached a high of $20.00 and frantically calling each other in the middle of Walmart and hiding packs around various places in the store when we got our hands on a coveted blue and red box of Polaroid 600 film. When I saw the images of the new polaroid camera mock ups that debuted at this year's CES (the Consumer Electronics Show) I almost died. Between Lady Gaga (LADY GAGA! Have you guys peed your pants yet!?) being hired as the new creative director, and the sassy, sleek new design they've given the camera, there is no way Polaroid could make a bigger come back.

Also, Joyce, the other contributor to this fabulous blog is leaving for a trip to Seattle this afternoon! Everyone wish her a safe flight!

We are already into the second week of 2010 and have yet to put up the pictures from our fabulous New Year's party at my house. It was just about the best New Years we've all had.
